Some War Council members of the Economic Fighters League led by Commander-in-Chief Ernesto Yeboah over the weekend visited Lance Corporal Wassa at the Recce Guardroom in Burma Camp.
In a post on their official Facebook page, the Fighters said that they told the soldier that he spoke for all Ghanaians when he recorded a video supporting the #DropThatChamber campaign earlier this month.
The campaign was in protest against plans to build a new Parliamentary Chamber complex. At the head of it, Ernesto Yeboah and other members of the Economic Fighters League stormed Parliament, shouting “drop that chamber” right when deliberations were ongoing on the matter in the chamber of Parliament, leading to their arrest and subsequent release.
Lance Corporal Wassa, the young brave soldier who added his voice to the campaign was later incarcerated by the military high command. The Fighters also hinted that they are petitioning the President of the Republic to grant pardon to the young soldier since he was serving his nation by openly opposing the wastage of his country’s money.
